On October 11, 1997, Bloomsburg University’s field hockey team faced off against the team from Philadelphia Textile. The Huskies crushed their opponents with a final score of 8-0. The match (photos top left and bottom right) would put the Huskies one step closer to becoming the national champions that same year (above, center). The team would defeat Kutztown University in a close 2-0 match for the NCAA Division II championship on November 9. The field hockey team has been led by strong players and stronger coaches for many years, though few have had the distinction of receiving a spot in the Hall of Fame, as was the case with coach Jan Hutchinson
