80 cent wings, live music, and $1.50 burgers. These options and more are available at McGuigan’s in Sunbury, PA. Due to COVID-19, this small business struggled to make ends meet. Due to government assistance, loyal customers, and hard work; they were able to keep their doors open for the public.

Public Relations Student Society of America chose McGuigan’s for their rebranding requirement. This club sought out this restaurant with the goal of rebranding their menus, diversifying their customer demographic, and making up lost income due to the pandemic.

McGuigan’s offers an inclusive environment for customers of any age. With live music throughout the week on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday; to new specials offered daily. On Tuesday nights you can feed a family of four for less than $20. Management and staff have worked around the clock to ensure their menu had items for all dietary needs. McGuigan’s stays open until 2 am almost every night apart from Sunday and Monday. For 21 and up, alcoholic beverages are in surplus.

PRSSA has been working with McGuigan’s on a Halloween event. There will be Halloween themed drinks, a costume contest and entertainment throughout the weekend. Due to such a small area being in mandatory lockdown for so long, PRSSA figured it would not only help McGuigan’s, but the city of Sunbury as well. McGuigan’s owners own a bar right down the road, Rusty Rail. For the Halloween weekend, Rusty Rail will also be holding an event; get ready for a crawl!

Bloomsburg Students are strongly encouraged to give this restaurant a visit. Susquehanna students used to be regular consumers. Due to social distancing mandates, many students were confined to their college or hometown. McGuigan’s wants to change this and encourages college students to visit. A 30-minute drive is worth it for the atmosphere of this restaurant.

PRSSA set out to use qualitative and quantitative research to boost this restaurants image. This includes creating and following through with an RPIE plan, (research, planning, implementation, and evaluation.) This planning method begins with simple brainstorming and develops into action. Another thing that is important is collaboration, working with the staff and listening to their concerns and needs.

This club has been working behind the scenes with McGuigan’s for a couple of months now. Halloween will be the first milestone in their research and evaluation. There is much more to come, McGuigan’s is already a great restaurant and bar. With the help of PRSSA, this small business will reach new heights. Follow @Mcguiganspublichouse on Instagram for updates on new menu items and specials. Come on down for a beer or a $5.00 cheesesteak; after entering McGuigan’s you will be tempted to stay for both.
