Bloomsburg Field Hockey is starting their season on a high-note.
The Huskies are 4-0 so far this season, matching the programs prior best start to season in over 11 years. The 2012 season was the last time the Huskies managed a 4-0 start to the year.
“It’s a great feeling to be where we’re at right now, our team chemistry this year is amazing on and off the field,” said Senior Captain Sam Schaffer. “We bring intensity every time we step on the field and it makes me excited to see how the rest of the season goes for us. We work hard every single day and we deserve that 4-0.”
On September 6th, the Field Hockey team won a shootout ending in a 3-2 victory over Pace University.
The first three periods were a fight for the Huskies as the contest started off with a goal from Pace. Both teams continued scoreless until Bella Culp took a shot at the cage and Senior Captain Emily Swineford followed to score.
The Huskies tied the game early in the fourth period, when Swineford slipped in her second goal of the game. Madeline Newman took a shot on goal for the Huskies, that just missed with eight seconds left sending the match up into overtime.

Last season, Bloomsburg and Pace were in a similar situation but instead ended with the Setters taking home the victory.
“It was a definitely a tough way to end the game,” Swineford said. “Our team kept pushing through and ultimately had focused on the things we worked on at practice. We brought the passion that we needed to end the game with a win.”
Catch the Huskies next game at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday as they host a non-conference match up against Roberts Wesleyan at Steph Pettit Stadium.
