You may have missed the Public/Government, Health & Human Services Expo, but coming up this semester are two more fantastic Career Expos!
Public Relations, Sales, Marketing & Communication, March 5, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB), March 28, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
Expos will be held in the Kehr Union Ballroom.
Career Expos are a great way for students to explore professional opportunities. Career Expos get students in touch with professionals and can even help land a job after graduation!
46 employers attended February’s Public/Government, Health & Human Services Expo. Jeremy Pleites, a junior media and journalism major, met with those employers.
Jeremy said, “I was looking for companies that relate to my major and was surprised when I spoke to employers that just about everyone needs someone who knows media and journalism. I will definitely be in contact with the people who gave me their business cards.”
First and second-year students have the chance to network, get advice, and search around for the type of career they want to strive for. Juniors and seniors can find internships or even full-time positions in their field!
Expos are recommended for students who haven’t yet declared a major or are thinking of changing their major. By talking with professionals and finding out about the industry, students are likely to find a path that fits! Of course, if you know what you want to do after college, an expo will allow you to network with employers in your chosen field and get a feel for the kind of company you want to work for.
Ethan Sickler, a third-year accounting major, attended last spring’s PR, Sales, Marketing, & Communications Expo: “There were a lot of good firms to meet along with other unexpected opportunities. All recruiters seemed friendly and excited to chat with anyone they thought could be a potential candidate.”
Sometimes events like this can be nerve-wracking, but employers are ready and willing to meet YOU! Attending an expo could be the first step into your career. Alumni and Professional Engagement staff will be there to help with any questions or concerns.
Tip: When attending an expo, dress nice and bring copies of your resume!
