Finding that first job after college can be nerve-wracking and straight-up scary. The Career Intensive Bootcamp (CIBC) helps undergraduate juniors and seniors prepare for the working world. Attendees get a chance to practice all the things that make a new professional nervous and get tips to help them avoid common mistakes.
The CIBC takes place over the course of a weekend and covers everything from dining etiquette and networking practice to mock interviews, resume reviews, and LinkedIn headshots. The event is intense, but provides everything a student needs to graduate a confident professional in one weekend!
Registration for the Fall 2024 Career Intensive Bootcamp is open now and will take place September 20-22, 2024. Register on Handshake before the last day of classes (5/3) and be entered to win a $50 gift card to a downtown restaurant!
Jack Van Ness, a junior information technology and analytics major, attended the Spring 2024 CIBC.
He said, “I found it invaluable to refine my interviewing and resume skills, and networking with alumni provided a supportive environment for skill enhancement alongside peers who face the same challenges. I firmly believe that such experiences are indispensable for juniors and seniors striving to progress.”
Aviel Kuhn, a senior business management major, also attended boot camp in the spring.
When asked about boot camp, she said: “Attending the boot camp provided networking opportunities, opening doors to potential collaborations and career advancement. The workshops and mentorship sessions offered insightful guidance on navigating the professional landscape. The boot camp provided an important learning experience.”
In addition to networking practice and resume reviews, alumni return to campus to provide insight on salary negotiation, financial literacy, managing workplace relationships, and professional ethics. Alumni and employer panelists and keynote speakers are from a wide range of majors and industries, so every major is welcome!
