BU Survivor Season 2 concludes with winning castaway Jack Holcombe winning the thousand-dollar prize. Before his victory though, came episode 9.
Episode 9:
With seven castaways left, episode 9 began with a game of shuffleboard. The game was played in two rounds, with the winner being Jake Casella. The next immunity challenge was basketball knockout. Brady Armstrong walked away victorious from the game.
Next up was Wall Pegs, where the castaways had to hang on pegs for as long as possible. Jake Casella came out on top with his second immunity victory of episode 9.
The first tribal council of the episode concluded with Gianna Corropolese being voted off. The next challenge was pickleball, where 3 pairs faced off in 5-minute rounds. Jake Casella won yet again with his teammate Chase Shutt. The fifth challenge of the episode was a wall sit competition that resulted in Erin Ranegan’s victory. Despite his numerous victories this episode, Jake Casella was voted out in the second tribal council.
The next few challenges saw Hope Garavaglia voted off and left Survivor with its final four: Brady Armstrong, Jack Holcombe, Erin Ranegan, and Chase Shutt.
Episode 10:
From 30 to 4, this season was action-packed and intense. The final four competed in a few mini-challenges to become the Final 3, with Chase Shutt being voted out next. Episode 10 had a lot of twists and turns, as the final 3 had to face all of their former teammates and rivals when they faced the jury of returning members. The jury was made up of voted-off castaways Julia Bono, Kamryn Van Daalen, Tatiana Beckworth, Holly Masi, Trey Sterling, Anthony Witczak, Lee Habalar, Gianna Corropolese, Jake Casella, Hope Garavaglia, and Chase Shutt. After the jurors asked their questions of the final three, the vote was cast.
In Third Place was Brady Armstrong. Coming in at second was Erin Ranegan. The first-place winner of Season 2 was Jack Holcombe, who walked away with his trophy and a check for $1,000.
A Winner’s Reflections:
Holcombe was surprised by his victory but delighted nonetheless. Holcombe told the Voice, “I mean, yeah, it’s a big achievement and it’s something I really wanted to get farther in than last season.” When asked about his plans for the money, Holcombe stated, “I still don’t know what I’m gonna do with the money.” He reflected on a fun season and gave credit to his girlfriend for being a large supporter and showing up to every episode.
After being voted out in season one, Holcombe decided to stir the pot by creating fake idols and advantages to throw other players off. He said, “I wanted to make a difference in the game and that’s really what I tried to do.” He wanted to make the game more interesting and fun and even if he didn’t win, the false idols would have an impact on the rest of the game. Holcombe revealed he doesn’t have plans on returning to the games, “I don’t think I’ll be back… it’s something really nice that our college does and I’m thankful for the opportunity to meet people… it’s a fun thing to do in general.”
Season 3 Teased
The finale brought us a glimpse into the future, as head of student involvement George Kinzel confirmed a third season with a teaser trailer. Unlike the past seasons, this one comes with a shocking twist. “This time, when someone is voted out, they’re NOT going home, but instead they’ll vanish into a mysterious, separate world on campus called “Husky Island,” states the trailer.
