The faculty labor union asked the council of trustees to keep President Osgood in place for at a second year.
Karen Hamman, a faculty member in the Student Success department and an APSCUF representative, said that one year is not enough, and there is more work to be done. Hamman approached the university trustees Tuesday, Oct. 7, requesting to extend Interim President Osgood’s contract for a minimum of one year. Hamman continued by saying that they are confident in Osgood, here’s some of the reasons that were listed:
- Dr. Osgood has initiated meaningful and collaborative discussions
- He has been consistently engaged with staff and faculty
- He’s actively seeking input from leadership as he develops future plans
- He thoughtfully plans according to the needs of the community
Later in the meeting, Erik Evans, the vice president for advancement, thank Osgood for the work he has done so far. “… We’ve got some momentum here” Evans said.
The trustee board did not take action as of yet. The Voice has reached out to Dr. Osgood’s office, and will report with further updates.
