Freshman Tyler Nowmos earned Husky of the Week honors with his impressive offensive performance in the opening game of a Bloomsburg baseball double header against Clarion on April 11. Nowmos blasted three home runs in his performance which contributed to the Huskies’ 15-1 win over Clarion.
Going into the matchup, Nowmos had just six at-bats through the first 29 games of this season and became the first BU baseball player since electronic stats were first recorded in 2000, according to Bloomsburg Sports Information, to hit three home runs in one game. Nowmos finished the game 3-5 with 5 RBI and BU would go on to win the second game of the double header by a score of 9-4.
Brigid Kyne, a senior midfielder, also earned Husky of the Week honors as she was the igniting force for the women’s lacrosse team’s offense in their game against Indiana University of Pennsylvania on April 8. Kyne set up her teammate Caityln Gormley on the opening goal of the game as BU took an early 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the match. Kyne would continue to be active on the offensive side of the ball as she finished the game with three goals and two total assists. Despite Kyne’s performance, Bloomsburg fell to IUP by a final score of 9-8. Kyne currently leads the lacrosse team in goals (23) and assists (11) this season.
