Rejoice in Biden’s victory

People far and wide celebrate the President-Elect

I’d like to start by saying: we did it! We made it through the last four years with a racist, offensive, ableist, homophobic man residing in the White House! These last four years have gone by slowly, but hopefully the next eight weeks will fly by.

Even though Joe Biden’s win took place only yesterday, it feels as if an enormous weight has been lifted off the shoulders of many Americans. Biden was declared our next president at 11:26 a.m. on Saturday morning, to the joy of many and the displeasure of others.

The news was immediately met with cheers raining from skyscrapers across the country, people dancing in the streets, and others popping bottles of champagne. But the reaction was not entirely joyous, as Trump supporters declared that Biden’s win was accomplished because of fraud.

To be honest, even though many are saying to have compassion for those who “lost,” I do not. Back in 2016, Trumpers rubbed salt into our wounds and for the last four years, have been increasingly more aggressive.

I am very, very happy that my neighbors immediately took down their “make liberals cry again” banner and various signs mere hours after hearing the results. Quite frankly, I believe that they’re embarrassed after making such fools of themselves for the last four years. Never, in the history of this country, has a president brought out such hatred and animosity towards others.

Never.

Donald Trump’s followers are a cult full of blind-sided people who hear one statement and are immediately hooked. Just like Trump said, he could go out into the street and shoot somebody and people would still vote for him. And he wasn’t wrong. Trump has said vile things about people of color, mocked a disabled reporter, and repeatedly shamed women, to name a few instances.

But hordes of people still voted for him, even after four years of absolute bullshit.

The amount of racism I have seen from Trump supporters is utterly disgusting, and I really cannot stress that enough. Whether it be the phrase “go back to your country” or calling an individual the n-word, it is absolutely unacceptable. And yes, you could say, “well not all Trump supporters are racist!” I see your point, but if they weren’t at least a little racist, they wouldn’t have voted for a man who refers to Mexicans as “rapists” and African Americans as “thugs.”

If Trump supporters weren’t homophobic, they wouldn’t have voted for a man who once again made it so transgender individuals can’t serve in the military. I really cannot wrap my head around the love that so many people have for Donald Trump. Maybe it’s because I’m not a racist, homophobic, misguided person, but who knows.

And I’m just going to say that I’m not the biggest Joe Biden fan either. But I’d rather have Biden over Trump any day. I am overjoyed at the decision that Americans made and I’m so grateful that I’m able to write this article. I was worried that I’d be writing an article about Trump winning, but my fears have disappeared.
