What’s New to the Bloomsburg Fair

Preview of the Bloomsburg Fair

Sophie Davenport, The Growl Editor

There are some exciting new attractions coming to the Bloomsburg Fair this year! As always, the fair begins the third Saturday after Labor Day which this year is Saturday, September 24th . Preview day is the day before. The Voice was invited to Bloomsburg’s fair Media Lunch this past week and there I was able to get a preview of some of the new events.

There will be fifty plus new venders this year with over 1,300 vendor spaces available. I am hoping there will be some new and exciting food vendors! The Bloomsburg Fair food is the reason I attend the fair! There will also be a new pigs and piglets barn which is replacing the poultry barn. The fair is not able to hold the poultry barn this year due to the bird influenza. However, replacing chickens with some cute piglets is a good trade off. There will also be a new draft horse competition and miniature horse pull. The fair is planning to introduce a ‘lamb cam’ this year that will document the daily activities of a lamb. The ‘lamb cam’ will be available to view on the Bloomsburg Fair website. One big event that the Bloomsburg fair is bringing back after many years is the rodeo. Tuesday night, September 27th,, at the Grandstands, a rodeo will  be held for all those interested. As for the concert line-up this year, the fair is featuring Justin Moore, Nelly, Toby Mac, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts!

One of the biggest things I took away from the Media Lunch is how much the Bloomsburg Fair replies on the community. The fair simply wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of the community. The fair generates a lot of revenue for the town as well. The fair is truly a community wide event! So, for those that return every year or for those that have never been give your support by attending the Bloomsburg fair, you will have fun while doing it!
