The Bloomsburg Men’s Basketball team season came to an end Saturday afternoon on the road. The Huskies would go on to lose to West Chester with a final score of 84-63, in an PSAC division game.
West Chester got on the board early as it took them six seconds to score with a layup from Jordan Kellier. The Huskies would then respond with a dunk from Freshman Mondyu Richards. A couple of three from Senior Louie Wild gave the Huskies a 10-5 advantage. That’s when West Chester would go on a 10- 0 run. The Golden Rams wouldn’t look back.
West Chester led by as many as 25 points in the first half. The Golden Rams went on a 10-1 run to close out the first half. They would lead the Huskies 47-22 at intermission.
For the Golden Rams Robert Smith led the team with 13 first half points. For the Huskies Senior Louie Wild led the team with eight first half points.
West Chester did not cool off in the second half. They came out hot going on a 12-0 run and would lead by as many as 38 points early in the second half.
The Huskies would then go on a 19-10 run led by Junior Matt Bengel, who scored 10 points on the run. The Huskies continued to fight, cutting the deficit to 15 late in the second half, but it wasn’t enough. The Huskies would go on to lose 84-63.
Bengel led the Huskies with 14 points. He also finished the season with a team high 352 points. The Freshman Richards went 6-for-9 from the field finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds. Graduate Student Desmond Freeman finished his last game as a Husky with 11 points.
After finishing 1-25 last year. The Huskies finished the 2023-24 season going 5-23 with a 3-19 conference record. The Huskies will look to improve even more going into next season.
