At Commonwealth University Bloomsburg, the Community Government Association (CGA) serves as the voice of the student body, playing a vital role in enhancing the college experience for all students. Established to promote student interests and facilitate communication between students and the administration, CGA is an essential component of campus life.
CGA is made up of senators and executive board members from different majors and years, ensuring diverse perspectives are included in decision-making processes. This body actively engages in discussions about policies affecting students, ranging from academic concerns to campus safety and community involvement. Meetings every other Monday in the Kehr Union provide a platform for members to voice concerns, propose initiatives, and collaborate on projects that benefit the entire student body. These meetings are also open to the entire student body, allowing them to share their campus experiences (both the good and the bad) with student leaders who are passionate about affecting change across campus.
One of the key functions of CGA is to allocate funding for student organizations and events, enabling clubs to host activities that enrich the campus community. This financial support encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities, enhancing their university experience.
In addition to funding, CGA organizes events that promote student engagement and community connection. Initiatives such as The Big Event, campus shuttle tracker, and the late-night shuttle are sponsored and run by CGA. These events help bridge the gap between students, administration, and the community by connecting students to the larger Bloomsburg community.
CGA is a very important part of campus life. The organization ensures that student voices are heard in university planning and policy-making. If you are a student with ideas about improving campus life, consider joining CGA by attending our meetings on Mondays at 4:30 PM in the Kehr Union Ballroom.
