Meet The Voice: Lauren Bruce: Webmaster

This week, our staff spotlight showcases our Webmaster, Miss Lauren Bruce!

She was born and raised in West Chester, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of West Chester East High School’s 2015 class.

Lauren entered Bloomsburg University in the fall of 2015. She came into Bloomsburg declared as a Creative Writing major but quickly realized she wanted to do more. By the end of her sophomore year she had added a second major in Literature and a Minor in Professional and Technical Writing.
Upon graduation, she hopes to be going to grad school to get her master’s degree. Lauren aspires to one day publish a novel and be able to influence others the way many books have influenced her.

During Lauren’s sophomore year at BU, she found her way onto the Voice staff. Starting out as an Assistant Webmaster, she learned the ropes and by junior year was the head Webmaster. She enjoys working the website since it is a good use of creative energy.

While being at BU, Lauren has joined and participated in multiple activities and organizations. Aside from being a Voice staff member, Lauren is the President of the Zeta Alpha chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, the National Honorary Band Service Fraternity. This organization provides service to all band organizations through fund-raisers, providing ushers at concerts, polishing the instruments, etc.

She is a member of the Bloomsburg Concert Choir and recipient of the William Decker Concert Choir Scholarship. Her favorite memory of choir is when they went to New Orleans to sing for an elementary school whose music program has no budget.

She is a two-time instructor for the Bloomsburg Color Guard. She, along with her fellow instructors through the last two years, wrote the show the guard preforms on the field. This year’s show is titled, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” and is holiday themed.

She also became a member of the English Honors society Sigma Tau Delta at the end of her sophomore year. On campus she is often either in her room or a study lounge doing homework as grades are extremely important to her.

Lauren enjoys all things involving books and writing, though she prefers the fantasy genre. She spends her free time with friends or writing, sometimes both together.

Lauren is a huge family-oriented person. She has two parents back home and a sister but considers her cousins to be siblings as well because of how close they are to each other. She calls home at least once every three days and makes sure to keep in contact with not only her parents but her grandparents as well.

If Lauren could give any advice to readers it would be to start your future now! If you keep postponing your dreams and goals, they will forever be unreachable. So, if you want it, start working for it, become a success in your field.

And, just maybe, your success will be noteworthy enough to get an article on the voice!
