Healthy Husky

Be you, be healthy

Taylor Sutton, Healthy Huskies

What is Healthy Husky? Healthy Husky is Bloomsburg University’s Health and Wellness initiative offering programs, services, and events to educate and motivate Bloomsburg students to adopt healthy behaviors. They focus on physical, mental and emotional well-being including advice on nutrition, sleep schedules, and managing the stress that comes with being a busy college student. Healthy Husky can be used as a resource for any student struggling with the balance of college life.
Did you know academic success in students is strongly linked with their health? Because of this, Healthy Husky offers various services including: information, interaction and awareness about the benefits of stress management, healthy eating and nutrition advice, physical activity advice, flu shots and vaccination information, mindful behaviors having to do with topics like sleep, self-care and safety, and smart choices about alcohol, drugs and tobacco.
Along with these services, our Husky PAWS also help educate students across campus. The PAWS stand for “Peer Assisted Wellness Services”, which are our peer health educators, who are trained to inform students with accurate and up to date information that could affect their success here at BU.
Our PAWS spread the word about healthy behaviors and help incoming students get accustomed to managing their health away from home.
Look forward to our upcoming events including Mental Health Awareness Day (Hosted by the McDowell Institute) Thursday, Sept. 12; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Quad, Stress Less with Pets starting Thursday, Sept. 12; 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and continuing every Thursday on the SSC Patio or Lobby/Atriums, Healthy Husky’s Annual Safety Fair Thursday, Sept. 19; 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Quad and SSC.
