Stay Wise, Stay Happy

Well the end of the year is drawing near, and all of the papers, projects, and exams are piling up. And you know what that means? Lots of stress and lots panic attacks. But you can avoid all of that by just managing your time a little more wisely. Time management may seem like a magical concept, like unicorns, but it is possible.

We all know that this is the time of the year that everything starts piling up. Besides all of the school work, we also have to worry about finding a summer job, or for us graduates, a real person job. And real people jobs mean cover letters, resumes, and interviews, all before the end of the year. It’s a lot to deal with, but you can’t give up.

So, what are some tips for improving your time management? Well first of all, stay goal oriented! I know personally that I write several lists each day in order to stay on track with everything I have to do. I’m not saying that I am a beast at time management, but I do know that the days that I set out all of my goals ahead of time, are the days that I am more likely to actually accomplish them. Also, the days where I do not write out my goals are the days that I forget to do things.

When you write out a list of goals make sure to list every single thing that you have to do first. And then go through and number them in terms of priority. Prioritizing your goals lets you know what you have to accomplish right away, and what things are not necessary at the moment. This is so important for lowering stress. When the assignments are piling up it can be hard to realize that it’s not as bad as it seems. But once you list them out from most important to least important, it immediately reduces stress.

Part of prioritizing your goals is also knowing how to budget your time. If you write out a list of everything you have to do in a day you need to know how long it’ll actually take to accomplish each task. If you do not give yourself enough time to finish a task then you might not even get to finish it! Or, you’ll get so stressed out about spending more time than you thought, that you won’t even be able to get to all your other goals. Overall just make sure that you are not overloading your days with more than you can handle.

It’s not just about homework. You need to make time for your own needs too. Make a list of everything you need to do on a daily basis in order to be happy and stay relaxed. And don’t sacrifice those things for mounds and mounds of homework. You will be able to finish everything on time, and worrying about wasting time is simply a watse of time.

So as the end of the year draws near don’t fret. Just stay relaxed try to always manage your time to the best of your abilities. And try to enjoy the rest of the semester, even when time is of the essence.
