Men’s Soccer 2019 season preview

Huskies look to bounce back after 8-9-1 season in 2018

This Friday, Sept. 6, marks the first game of the 2019 season for the Bloomsburg University Men’s soccer team.
The team is traveling to Salem, West Virginia to play against Salem University at 4:00 p.m. The Huskies did not get a chance to play Salem University last season, so the match will be an exciting opening game for both teams to start the new season.
It is the head coach Danny Wheelan’s second season with the Huskies, and it is exciting to see what is in store for the team’s upcoming season.
Last year, the team ended with an 8-9-1 overall record, almost ending with a .500 record.
The team ended with a .500 home game record at 5-5. Senior Tyler Madeira lead the team with 10 goals last season with a .303 shot percentage.
Madeira was a huge scoring weapon for the Huskies and the continuation of his skills could benefit the team immensely for his last season in a Bloomsburg uniform.
Senior Mike Bazadona III was the second leading scorer for the Huskies last season and with his combined efforts as well as Madeira’s, the offense for the Huskies could very well progress for the 2019 season.
Now that Danny Wheelan has one year of experience under his belt and had a year of getting to know his players strengths and weaknesses, his team has a good chance of obtaining the .500 record they were so close to last season.
Especially with the help of the Huskies’ two leading scorers and the other teammates, the team has developed chemistry through out the previous years.
The Huskies get things started in 2019 season on Friday, Sept. 6 when it travels to Salem University in West Virginia. Opening kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
