January 30, 2020
In this weeks of dorm cookin’, we have recipes for the morning and a night-time snack. With these recipes, you will be muchin away without the feeling of bloating or fatigue as these meals are made to be healthy and delicious. Remember, these recipes require no stove, crock pot, or anything you wouldn’t have in a dorm.
Red and Gold Oatmeal
Ingredients:
½ cup of oats
1 cup of Water
Pinch of salt
Brown sugar
1 tbsp Peanut butter
1 banana
2 strawberries
Let’s start off this recipe by grabbing a bowl. You will pour in your water and oats together. Add a pinch of salt to it. You will want to microwave this for about 2 minutes on high. Once they are done, let it sit for 2 more minutes. Mix it well before eating.
You can now add in the brown sugar. I prefer to add about a teaspoon of it but you can add depending on how sweet you like it. Chop up your fruits and add it in. Lastly, drop your peanut butter into the mix as it will tie all the flavors together. You are now ready to enjoy this delicious and easy breakfast meal. This recipe serves one person.
Choco Bloom Pretzels
Ingredients:
Square pretzels
Nutella
Strawberries
This snack will make you wish you had tried this sooner. It is hard to resist foods that are not good for us when we are hungry but this is the perfect sweet and salty snack. There is not much assembly to this recipe. You will grab a smear of nutella on a knife and add it onto the pretzel.
Cut your strawberry into four quarters. Add a strawberry to the nutella and pretzel. Now you are ready to sit back with your homework while snacking on some yummy goodness. A sugessted serving size for one peron are 6 preztels.
Quick tips: With both of these recipes, you can add different fruits to substitute due to allergies or flavor. This goes the same for including peanut butter. Almond butter is a great substitute for this meal. Each meal is to be nutritious and healthy. If you decide to eat a bigger amount of the meal or snack, it will not have the same effect.
It is always smart to keep on hand some type of fruit. Fruits can go with any recipe. If you don’t have a recipe, you can onviously eat it alone. Try to buy some that you know you will eat and actually enjoy. Don’t force yourself to like something you don’t.
