The Trump Presidency has been an outright disaster for our nation. With troops patrolling the nation’s capital, cuts to public journalism, and a slurry of executive order.
Many of the orders have been deemed in court as unconstitutional, such as his attempted ban on birthright citizenship and attempts to gut the Department of Education.
There are other attempts Trump has made to make America “Great” Again. Trump’s America looks a hell of a lot more like an occupied state than a free democracy.
Among the backlash from Democrats, humanitarian organizations, and the rest of the globe, Trump frequently dismisses his actions under the pretense of low gas prices or safe borders. What good is cheap gas when basic human rights are ignored?
Personally, I am overwhelmed.
With the GOP backing-mega-prison in Florida (dubbed Alligator Alcatraz), mass deportations to seemingly random foreign prisons, the ongoing threat of National Guard deployment, and so much happening so fast, it is hard to keep tabs on what decisions are being made and how they affect each of us.
But trying to stay informed is better than ducking your head in the sand. I, for one, am tired of the abuse of the Constitution, the neglect of millions of Americans, and the hateful rhetoric being pushed by Trump and the MAGA movement.
I hope that soon our lawmakers can actually start to stand up against the federal government and give us the America we deserve.
