On Friday March 6th, Bloomsburg University’s Improv Group BUSTED performed episode #127. The title is called “It’s Your Time”.
As the episode starts they play their theme songs, “C’mon Everybody” and “Let Go”. After “C’mon Everybody” Roman Ring the director of BUSTED gives the announcements including a hip movement disclaimer and announcing that this episode is senior Cody Howe’s last show. Once the songs ended they have a small introduction of past characters recapping what happened in the previous episode. Along with introducing new characters, a small description of who they are, and what they are a part of.
Act 1 Scene 1 involves Dean Elmo played by Alexandria Rose, Professor Wensleydale played by Cody Howe, Sally May played by Hannah McElhaney, Gek O’Bean played by Elizabeth Mauser, Lacey Bugg played by Kaitlyn Short, Robin Grey played by Madison Munley, Squeakers played by Maile Trelles, and Haggis McFanny played by Andrew Nelson. After watching Wenseleydale teach Modern Dance, Dean Elmo takes charge over choreography saying that Wensleydale’s dancing was outdated. Dean Elmo sings “New York” from Two Strangers the musical. The club erupts in applause and Wensleydale tells Dean Elmo that clearly his services aren’t needed since she took over everything else for the club.
Scene two is the faculty meeting where we are introduced to a new character called Dr. Bella Blue played by Alexis Lehmann who is taking over as Communications Professor to replace Aaron Powers, who is played by John Heilbeck, after he tried to kill Wenselydale.
As they are explaining how many times Powers tried to kill Wensleydale to Dr. Bella Blue Powers interrupts the meeting. By coming in he traumatizes the only teacher assistant, Archie O’Logy who is played by Kai Agnoni, who ends up in a ball on the floor. Wensleydale picks up a chair using it as a weapon to defend himself if needed against Powers. Before Powers has the chance to do anything Officer Nuts who is played by Jolie Oakman arrives and arrests Powers.
The next scene shows Powers arriving at the prison to meet his cellmate Harland Davidson who is played by Gunner Bowen. Harland is in jail accused for the murder of the late Kentucky Jo also known as KJ was played by graduate Jay Maurer. KJ was killed in the last episode by their sibling DJ Ember who is played by Dylan Ciarlello. Harland’s roommate Jimmy “Jitters” Jones played by Florian Walker visits Harland to give him ice cream, but eats it himself since Harland is lactose intolerant.
After Jitters visits Harland, Harland is brought to court in scene 4 ”Judgement Day/Before the Gaval Falls”. Harland is being defended by Sandy Wood who is played by Loreleii Guise, a Criminal Justice major and a courtroom intern against a Senior Journey Member Byron. When brought to the witness stand DJ pretends to cry telling a sob story of how he was looking for KJ, but can’t find him which leads him to put the blame on Harland. After arguing Judge Rocco declares Harland innocent and that KJ’s death was an accident. This sentence infuriates Lacey who decides to prove that Harland is guilty, dragging her boyfriend DJ into helping her investigation.
Then in Act 2 Scene 1 they are at a party of the fraternity, Alpha Sigma Rho, where they are all dressed as animals and girls are actually invited into the frat house. DJ brought the boombox without a costume, not knowing it was a costume party as they danced to “I Like to Move It” by Will.I.Am where they were drinking and having fun. DJ gets very drunk and almost falls off the stage while dancing.
After the party is over in scene two, Harland and DJ find each other and Harland says that he didn’t kill KJ which DJ tells him that he knows Harland is innocent. Lacey overhears them and is confused and annoyed.
In Scene 4, Archie discovers that Wensleydale is planning to fake his death with an old corpse of his and they try to stop Wensleydale as they sing “Live and Let Die”. Wensleydale explains that he is faking his death to keep Powers from trying to kill him. Archie agrees to help Wensleydale then goes to tell Powers in prison that he is dead. Powers laughs maniacally asking how he died only to find out that Archie left.
In the last scene of the show Wensleydale tells everyone that he is leaving since the state believes he is dead. He gives items out to different students including Archie along with calling Archie by his name. They end the show by singing “Seasons of Love” instead of normally playing it. They then say goodbye to Cody Howe giving him gifts.
“My favorite memory is hanging out during rehearsals and making great friends,” senior Cody Howe states.
