CU Bloomsburg’s campus Audio Club is hosting their annual music festival this upcoming May. In anticipation, Soundcheck will be spotlighting the bands participating in the festival. This edition includes Audio Club’s very own Pink Lemonade.
The members
Pink Lemonade is an alternative band composed entirely of Bloomsburg students.
Kaylee Jenkins takes over the vocals, she is a junior with a music technology major and a minor in business. Junior visual art major, Sam Snyder doubles on guitar and vocals. Drummer, Jonah Hemminger, is a sophomore history major with minors in Russian language and music. Last but not least, Sam Smith is the bassist, he’s a sophomore with a business economics major and a data analytics minor.
From friends to bandmates; the four musicians met through the Audio Club. The Audio Club specializes in music recording and band creation. Former Audio Club president and Bloomsburg Alumni, Thomas Chandler, put the group of students together when assigning bands for the original music festival that happened in 2025.
While Pink Lemonade and their friendships bring them together, their shared music taste is the glue.
Pink Lemonade’s Sound
Even though the band members all have unique study interests, they have one thing in common and that is their love for music. As a group, music to them means self-expression.
“Through writing music and playing, even if it’s just covers, you still express yourself,” says Snyder.
Highlighting the individual personalities that make up Pink Lemonade, their inspirations range from Michael Jackson to personal experiences.
Jenkins expressed that her inspirations are from the 50s-80s. It represents her “old soul” personality. However, her biggest inspiration is Michael Jackson.
“I love the beats in his music and the way he layers his songs and stuff… I feel like that’s me,” says Jenkins.
Adrianne Lenker from the band Big Thief is what inspires Snyder.
“The way she writes music and her creative process for making music where you’re playing around and just doing weird tunings and messing around with your guitar…” says Snyder, “yeah, that’s a big inspiration to me.”
Hemminger named the drummer from Tool, Danny Carey.
“He seems like a really fun guy to be around, and he has these crazy hard beats to play… you know he really got me into drums more than anyone else,” said Hemminger.
Smith describes how his inspiration doesn’t come into a specific artist, however being around people playing music is what motivates him.
“I’m always seeing how music brings people together, and it’s always been a big inspiration for playing music myself,” said Smith.
What to expect from Pink Lemonade
Pink Lemonade gave The Voice a sneak peek into their upcoming setlist for the Audio Club Music Festival.
The following is a taste of what is to come:
- “Come as you are” by Nirvana
- “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus
- “Rose of Sharon” by Title Fight
The band is excited to perform this year, specifically for their set. It’s more grown up.
“Last year it felt more like we were just a group of kids put together that had to come up with some songs,” says Smith, “it really does feel like we’re an actual band… I’m really liking the direction we’re taking.”
You can come see Pink Lemonade perform for yourself on May 9th at the Audio Club’s annual music festival.
