Huskies of the Week

Senior softball pitcher and first-baseman Mallory Tomaschik earned Husky of the Week honors for her dominant performance on the mound in Bloomsburg’s 6-0 win over Goldey-Beacom on April 24. Tomaschik pitched a complete seven innings and tallied 15 strikeouts, a career high. The first 10 outs of the game came by way of strikeout by Tomaschik and she only allowed one hit which was a lead-off single in the second inning. Tomaschik has had a successful campaign this season, recording 144 strikeouts in 19 appearances. She currently boasts a 1.88 ERA, a team low, and has won 10 games as well. The BU softball team is currently 25-15, going a perfect 10-0 at home. Tomaschik has also done well on the other side of the ball, batting .221 with 8 RBI and 2 home runs.

Women’s lacrosse attacker/midfielder Hannah Jaskuta also earned Husky of the Week honors for leading BU’s offense in the team’s 13-5 loss to Mercyhurst on April 22. Despite the loss, Jaskuta had a strong performance as she netted a team-high two goals with an assist as well. Both of Jaskuta’s goals came during the last 3 minutes of the contest and were not quite enough to close the gap with Mercyhurst. Scoring has been a theme- for the sophomore speech pathology major this season as she is third on the team in goals with 23 and has been able to generate offense for her teammates as well with 8 assists.
Jaskuta added to her season totals in BU lacrosse’s season finale against Kutztown on April 26. Jaskuta finished the game with one goal after she was able to find the back of the net on a free position shot.

Jaskuta has 46 career goals in her career at Bloomsburg and 13 assists. The lacrosse teams’ 9 wins are the most since 2014.
