Women’s Lacrosse Drops Home Finale to West Chester

It was a tough final home game for The Bloomsburg University women’ lacrosse team as they fell to No. 1 West Chester Saturday, 19-3.

West Chester got off to a hot start, scoring six unanswered goals in the first quarter.  

The Huskies first point came in the second quarter when Sophomore Madison Coyle(Williamstown, NJ) hit the back of the net off a pass from Junior Kate Roberts(Lehman, PA). The Huskies scored again when Senior Kelsey Kilgallon (Spring City , PA) scored to make the score 8-2. West Chester retaliated to make it a 9-2 game. 

The Huskies final score came with 4:46 to play in the second period as Roberts scored from a nice pass made by Junior Haley Williams(Garnet Valley, PA).The Golden Rams then added another goal by Junior Taylor O’Brien to take a 10-3 lead at halftime.

The Golden Rams did not let up in the second half, adding three more goals to start the third quarter. They ended the game with nine more goals to beat the Huskies 19-3.

The Huskies registered just 15 shots on the day, compared to WCU’S 36. BU finished with 25 turnovers and five free-position shots.

Roberts played great for the Huskies, finishing with one goal and one assist. Also, Kilgallon had a goal of her own and shot four times. Freshman Lauren Foley (Schwenksville, PA) took the loss for the Huskies and finished with 11 saves.

The Huskies record now sits at 10-6 and 6-5 in the conference. They will look to bounce back as the travel to East Stroudsburg University Saturday at 12pm.
