The Bloomsburg Women’s Basketball team are coming off an 18-11 year which included a tremendous 16-6 conference record for the 2021-22 season. The women’s team overachieved expectations last year. In the preseason PSAC poll last year the Huskies were voted sixth. At the end of the year the Huskies finished as number two in the conference and went on to the PSAC Quarterfinals which ended their season when they would go on to lose 76-53 to Shepherd University.

For the 2022-23 season the Huskies were picked as the number three team in the PSAC Eastern Division. The Huskies were picked to fall behind Kutztown and Shippensburg University.

There will be some new faces for the Huskies this year as they graduated Guard Emma Saxton who averaged 13.4 points per game along with 6.2 rebounds per game. Saxton was also first team PSAC and the PSAC East defensive player of the year. The Huskies also graduated Forward Meghan Corridoni who averaged 13.3 points per game with 8.1 rebounds per game. Corridoni was also first team all PSAC last year. Those are two huge losses for the Huskies. They will depend on their new class to carry some of the load.

The Huskies added five new players to its 2022-23 class. The class includes 5-11 transfer  forward Abby Brown, 5-9 transfer guard Maddie LaFrance, 5-5 Fr. guard Camryn Felix, 5-10 Fr. forward Chase Purdy and finally 5-7 Fr. guard Kelly Leszcynski. The Huskies will depend on the upcoming class to make a run in the PSAC East.

Coach Alison Tagliaferri will enter her seventh year as the head coach for the women’s basketball team. Tagliaferri’s record sits at 76-68 overall entering the 2022-23 season.

The Huskies open up the season November 16 as they travel to face Chestnut Hill College.
