Callie Sowers became the seventh player in school history to record 500 strikeouts. Sowers made history against Bowie State. Where she recorded eight strikeouts in seven innings.
The Huskies would also win the game 6-1.Sowers continues to be dominant for the Huskies.
“ All those years of pitching in the backyard with my dad are paying off,” said Sowers.
“Accomplishing 500 strikeouts was an incredible feeling, It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication I’ve put in on the mound and with my team over the last 3 years,” Sowers added.
In the offseason Sowers worked on improving her strength and conditioning to be more dominant on the mound. She also worked on developing new pitches and changing speeds to keep hitters off balance.
The work and improvements has shown for the huskies ace. So far in the season Sowers has a 15-4 record with a 1.20 ERA.
When asked what has led to her dominance this season. Sowers credited her coaches and teammates. Sowers praised their encouragement and belief in her and how they helped her to stay motivated and focused on the mound.
Sowers and the Huskies who currently sit at 24-15 overall. Has some goals before the season wraps up.
“I want to continue performing at a high level and help lead my team to success,” said Sowers.
“I want to be a reliable and consistent presence on the mound,” she added.
Sowers will do whatever it takes to get victories for the Huskies.
Sowers and the Huskies fell short in the PSAC championship last year. They returned every player from last year’s team.
They will look to get back to that game and win it all this year.

Sowers achieved something big and is not done making her mark as an Husky.
