In an interview with the Voice, Community Government Association (CGA) President Chaz Kaszuba shared his plans for the upcoming semester, including Big Event preparations, a surge in marketing, and a newly founded Fundraising Committee. Kaszuba has served as CGA President for the last semester, and plans on continuing to serve after he runs for reelection later this year. During his time as President, Kaszuba says his goal is to continue the growth and efficiency of CGA.
The Big Event:
Each Spring semester, CGA holds a full-day community service effort known as The Big Event. According to the Commonwealth University website, the Big Event has been a tradition since 2010. Kaszuba explained how The Big Event boils down to multiple subcommittees that take on various tasks and have been working since the Fall Semester, such as an Equipment Committee, which keeps track of all the supplies needed for the cleanup. Students on Bloomsburg’s Campus can expect to see a large presence of CGA tables around heavily trafficked campus areas to spread awareness for the event and to gain sign-ups.
Marketing Changes:
Campus isn’t the only place CGA plans to make a larger presence, as Kasuba and his team are planning to overhaul their marketing and social media approaches.
“On our social media platforms, our marketing has increased a lot”, said Kaszuba, “I think the more the merrier… when it comes to marketing from CGA”.
In an effort to create stronger marketing tactics, CGA will be launching a TikTok page, for what Kaszuba says is the first time in the group’s history. Kazuba believes marketing is a crucial element of CGA and strives to grow its online presence over the coming months.
New Fundraising Committee:
Kaszuba noted that growth requires more than just planning.
“Without the money we get from fundraising, none of this is possible,” Kaszuba said.
In hopes to streamline fundraising, CGA has created its own fundraising committee, an idea Kaszuba says he brought up to Former President Matthew Kuni before Kaszuba ran for the Presidency.
“Last year I ran fundraising myself but this year I’ve gained a few extra tasks on my plate,” Kaszuba said, a nod to his step up into the Presidency, “Senator Ella Reiter has stepped up and is nopw the new chair of fundraising… making sure we have the funds available to make this Big Event as big as the last.”
The Voice will continue to keep up with CGA as the semester goes on and we get closer to CGA Elections later in the year.
