From the first four to the final four, March Madness, once again, delivered some unforgettable moments. As the Michigan Wolverines cut down the nets for the first time since 1989, let’s look back at the defining names and moments of this year’s tournament.
Braylon Mullins: The Indiana native etched his name into College Basketball immortality by hitting one of the greatest shots in March Madness history to beat the Duke Blue Devils in the Elite 8. He becomes a part of an illustrious list of March heroes, forever enshrined in greatness.
Iowa Upsets Florida: The defending National Championship Gators entered the 2026 tournament as one of the favorites. Then Bennett Stirtz showed up. Fueled by farmland and corn, the Iowa Hawkeyes dethroned the Florida Gators in the round of 32. The Hawkeyes would later go on to make the Elite 8, becoming the lowest seeded BIG Ten team to do so.
The Masters Takes the Stage
As the Azaleas bloom in Georgia, it is time for the Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club. The hallowed grounds play host once more to the greatest spectacle in golf. Here are my top contenders:
Rory McIlroy: It’s only right to start with the defending champion. In 2025, McIlroy exercised his Augusta demons when he completed the career grand slam and won his first Masters. In 2026, McIlroy hasn’t played as well as he would have liked. With just a pair of finishes inside the top 25 this year, expect him to get on track and compete per usual at Augusta.
Scottie Scheffler: The World No.1 is back at the Masters looking to add another trophy to his cabinet. The 2022 and 2024 winner of the tournament, Scheffler, has played well in 2026. He has a win to his credit early in the year and a plethora of top-5 finishes. He enters the week as the favorite, and rightfully so.
Bryson DeChambeau: The LIV golf star has a great track record around Augusta. Multiple top-10 finishes and getting hot at the right time make DeChambeau a trendy pick. The question is: Can he finish the job on Sunday?
(My Pick) Jon Rahm: The 2023 Champion is poised to grab his second Masters in 2026. After a plethora of top-5 finishes on the LIV Tour, not many are playing better than the stocky Spaniard.
Channel your inner middle-aged dad this Masters. Grab a drink, check your lawn, complain about your neighbors, and watch some golf.
