It has been a tough season for the Bloomsburg Men’s Basketball team, but that hasn’t stopped Gr. Forward Travis Elmore from reaching an incredible milestone. Elmore became the 32nd player in Huskies history to reach the 1,000 point milestone against Millersville University. It took Elmore six points to reach the milestone in the game on January 13th at Millersville. Elmore finished the contest with 11 points for the Huskies in a 88-57 loss.
“I was over the moon, it felt amazing to finally accomplish something that I have been working towards for so long,” said Elmore.
Elmore has faced many hardships throughout his career including a knee injury that caused him to miss the whole 2022-23 season, but he never lost hope.
“While the injury was quite a setback, I knew the motivation and the support system I had would push me to get back to playing how I play,” Elmore said.
“ I’d be lying to say that my injury made me doubtful about where I would be in my career today, nevertheless I am proud to be where I am now,” Elmore added.
Huskies Men’s Basketball coach Chris Bess acknowledged Elmore’s achievement and work ethic as well.
“Despite facing adversity and overcoming injuries throughout his career, Travis hardwork and determination paid off as he was able to recover, help the team, and score his 1000th point,” Bess said.
As Elmore’s career winds down as a Huskie, he has had some time to reflect.
“ I will always remember the everlasting bonds that I made with my teammates through the years. The time I spent with the Seniors and underclassmen on the team throughout the years is something I will cherish forever,” Elmore said.
For the remainder of the season Elmore wants to finish out strong and cherish every moment he has with his teammates till the last buzzer of the last game goes off.
“Trav day in and day out brings positive energy and excitement to the program and we’re so proud of him,” said Bess.
You can catch Elmore and the Huskies Wednesday, January 24th as they host East Stroudsburg at 7:30 p.m.
