As anticipation builds for a new venue for college students —all eyes have been fixed on the long-awaited arrival of The Husky Den.
Renovations and questions:
In 2024, renovations began on the once-familiar Good Old Days bar. Awnings proudly reading Husky Den Sports Bar and Grille started to appear. As construction continued, rumors swirled across the campus community. Frequent questions included: “When will it be open?” “Is it just going to be the same as The Capitol?” “Is it going to be expensive?”
New Owners Response:
Roxana Zoppetti—who also owns the fine dining restaurant La Malbec—envisions The Husky Den becoming the new college destination. While known for her upscale culinary background, she’s clear that The Husky Den is designed with college students in mind, offering an elevated vibe without losing its accessibility.
She also understands the nostalgia attached to Good Old Days, so she’s woven subtle mementos of the former bar throughout the décor to honor its place in the community’s memory.
The Husky Den is a three-story experience.
Floor One:
A sports and karaoke bar atmosphere, open all day and serving classic bar favorites alongside dishes Bloomsburg hasn’t seen before—like Bao Buns filled with chicken teriyaki or pulled pork.
“I don’t think anyone else around here really has that, and I think it will be a really popular item.”
Guests can also expect extra-crispy wings with standout sauces ranging from blueberry barbeque to Nashville hot, plus a signature Husky Smashburger loaded with goodies. This floor will host events like karaoke nights and features new state of the art technology and a massive OLED TV stretching across the entire back wall—ideal for game days.
Floor Two:
The nightclub coined “The Den After Dark,” the space includes VIP lounge areas, standing areas, a dance floor, a full bar, and a dedicated spot for a DJ. Zoppetti is even bringing “Hora Loca”—or crazy hour—to Bloomsburg, describing it as a high-energy burst of
giveaways, bubbles, and pure crowd hype.
Floor Three:
“Roxy’s Speakeasy,” complete with a 1920’s themed menu and a password-required hidden entry to create a truly exclusive experience.
When things will be finished:
There’s no confirmed opening date for this level just yet.
Of course, every college student’s biggest question is: How much is this going to cost? Zoppetti says pricing will match competitors like The Capitol and West End Ale House
during their happy hours. Regular cover fees will be reasonable for special events such as guest DJs or live bands. To round out the experience, a food truck will be parked right outside the bar to satisfy those classic late-night cravings. Zoppetti predicts items like “Husky fries” will be a crowd favorite.
At the heart of it all, Zoppetti hopes The Husky Den becomes a true community anchor.
“Every time the graduates come back for homecoming; I look forward to providing the spot they come back to, remembering all their college fun and memories. For the locals in our community hunting for a place with good food, and lively atmosphere, this is it.
Their local bar where everyone is welcomed”
The establishment will debut in stages. An exclusive invite-only preview event for the nightclub is scheduled for December 5th. The Bar and Grille will host its soft opening on December 15th, with the nightclub achieving full operational status at the commencement of the spring semester.
